Super Bowl 2018 – Who Emerges from the Pile

With so many improved rosters in the NFL, you can expect a lot of teams to be vying for a trip to the Super Bowl. However, only two squads will be fortunate enough to compete in the big game. The best way to predict such things is with a hard look at past performances as well as a brush up on NFL statistics from this past Super Bowl and NFL season. Will a new challenger make a serious run at the Lombardi Trophy? Here are the 2018 Super Bowl predictions.

Dallas Cowboys

Last year, everyone was surprised by the Dallas Cowboys’ emergence as a top contender. Unfortunately, the team’s success in the regular season didn’t translate to a playoff victory. You can expect the 2017-2018 season to be even better. Teams in the NFC conference will have a hard time keeping pace with the Cowboys.

With Tony Romo now enjoying retirement, second-year quarterback Dak Prescott should take the next step towards stardom. He can use last year’s mistakes to improve his game. While some people may question Prescott’s ability to quickly read the opposing defense, a powerful offensive line will give him plenty of time in the pocket. You also can’t overlook his impressive athleticism and proven mental toughness. The ultra-reliable Jason Witten and Pro-Bowler Dez Bryant will be prepared to catch a lot of passes this year. If Ezekiel Elliot can avoid injury, he has the potential to surpass 1,500 rushing yards. On defense, an improved pass rush will take the Cowboys to the next level.

New England Patriots

After their miracle comeback in last year’s Super Bowl against the Atlanta Falcons, Tom Brady and the Patriots want to start a new dynasty. According to Covers, the Patriots have what it takes to earn yet another Super Bowl victory. The Denver Broncos and the Pittsburgh Steelers are hungry to take the Patriots’ spot. Although the competition in the AFC is stiff, experience and grit give the Patriots a key advantage.

Bill Belichick and the rest of the coaching staff have a knack for finding players that fit the team’s system. If one player gets hurt, there will be someone else waiting to fill the void. You can’t deny the Patriots’ overall talent as a team. Rob Gronkowski is always a threat in crunch-time situations. Meanwhile, Trey Flowers is poised to become a star on the defensive side of the ball.
